Introduction of the 3^rd Edition

Invasion of Iraq was not just a stagger penetrating Iraq as a state- country and Arabs as a nation at the most vulnerable point, but it was an austere lesson history taught to those agents who built high castles in the air that America shall carry them up by their planes to the royal throne in their country, not caring a bit for the huge destruction and havoc that shall certainly befall this country and all who lives therein.

The Libyan agents ... Pardon, the Libyan Chalabis- had the biggest share in running after these dreams and also had been shocked similarly at the frustration and disappointment of the Americans and their agents in Iraq. However, clutching at their dreams and fond of conspiring against their country. Strangely, they still negate their agency and bombard falsely all who tries to tear up their cover. When we published the ten series of the Making Of Opposition, it had been responded to in different ways: Some responded in horrible silence whose cause we know well. Other saw them as invented-up stories aiming at affecting the figures of what is called the Libyan opposition and profaning their images before all the Libyan people, therefore, it shall be a strike against the core of opposition as an idea in itself and practice and representing it as a ghost trying to destroy and devastate what the Libyan people had long built, enslaving and causing enmity between it and the existing regime so as to pave them the way for attaining authority. That is to say, representing the Libyan opposition is not an enemy to the regime in so much as it is an enemy to the Libyan people itself.

Others considered these incidents included in this book as nearer to historical narratives containing what must be taken for granted without discussion. Meanwhile, they include what requires reference citation(s) and authentication, while some others– of more experience and sophisticated knowledge of the tools and aims of the Libyan opposition— that these narratives express what the Libyan people wanted to know exactly and to correct the ambiguous, forged or distorted information they had, as it filled a gab they badly wished to fill.

In fact, when we adduce the series of Making of opposition, we do not aim to misshape the figures representing what is called "The Libyan Opposition" causing enmity between the Libyan people and the Libya opposition in general as the second part believed. Nor to narrate historical records of events as the third party believed but the aims are:

First; to correct the distorted and faulty information about the means, methods and objectives of the so-called Libyan opposition factions and its figures showing they are mainly after the outcome not the means. They aspire for the royal throne in Tripoli and toppling its regime even with traitorous methods or destroying Libya and lifting it upside down on the heads of its citizens drawing it hundreds of years backwards. This is what the 4^th group was intelligent enough to recognize, of those who have read the series and welcomed the book finding it required a fortiori to know for the Libyan people. But, they were not free in this as they did not have the necessary information, the clear necessary information or fear of raising a fervent controversy wave not only on their testimonies but about themselves, which may be in a way they can't stand.

Secondly: to enlighten and acquaint the Libyan citizens especially the young generations who did not live or who may have not read or heard about the events in the period of making what is called the Libyan Opposition including the big number of concocted or the conspiracies still being plotted against them and also against their country so as to ably and consciously advance forward, recognize and differentiate between what serves their interests and their country's from that that is disguised in old and groundless political claims to manipulate their destinies. In form, they promise with mercy and prosperity accomplishment while in content they embody the cruelest types of torture, the ugliest aspects of ruining, havoc and ideological mottos foolish, brilliant in appearance and too old in content.

It is historically certain that Libya suffered a lot under the Italian occupation in 1911 through unjust international equations that cared only for the interests of the superpowers that dominated the then international interaction system. It sacrificed much blood and many souls of its citizens so as to get rid of such imperialism. When it became independent in late 1940s, it was hoped to surpass all its past sufferings, and enter a new political and economic era. But, all was in vain. Few months after Libya's independence, it underwent political disorder springing from the failure of the Western democracy pattern King el Senussi and his adherents—anti- colonial el Senussi struggle is not neglected nevertheless- tried to settle, which primarily surpassed the nature of the economic, social and cultural Libyan structure Libyans grew up therein.

Secondly; because of the big differences in income; the King's court took in the Libyan treasures and wealth, however, the majority of people led a life less than from hand to mouth.

Thirdly, at that time imperialism was still encompassing the Libyan territories, represented in the military and civil privileges America and Britain gained. Pursuant to the coalition and friendship convention both Libya and Britain signed in July, 1953, Britain retained three military bases in Benghazi, Tripoli, and al-'Adam, in addition to its forces about in the country. As for the U.S.A., for a cheap price, it governed the active military Howells base by virtue of a treaty signed by both the Libyan regime and the U.S.A in Sept. 1954.

Gradually, after aggravation and consequences of events, change was a matter of life or death to the Libyan people! What it wanted was achieved on 1^st of September 1969. But that did not dissuade the superpowers headed by the U.S.A.-- which was compelled by the new repellants to leave its military presence in Libya-- from seeking to achieve their greedy aims therein, increased by the promising Libyan oil capacities on one hand and their national and Arab orientations on the other hand. Yet, it is a pity! The Libyan agents were ready at that time also. To say but a few, in the final three days of March 1970, the Revolution Council was informed of a secret organization connected with the U.S.A who prepared a coup scheme against the revolution, taking advantage of the evacuation ceremony festivals to perform its plan. But that coup was aborted and negotiations continue till the last American soldier was evacuated from Libya on 11 June 1970, which was a backbreaking strike to the USA. Practically, the Americans responded in the following aggressive actions they took against Libya. In July one month after the American evacuation, the American National Security body decided the U.S.A has to multiply its efforts to keep safe its entire strategic interests in the region "the Mediterranean Zone". Moreover, many schemes aiming at returning to Libya were discovered, including a plan designed on 23rd March 1972 by the American National Security Organ, the Pentagon and some white house counselors, and approved by the American president on 25 April 1972. Between America and Britain, talks began discussing its content on 13 Sept. 1972. Afterwards, its execution practical guidelines became clear and complicated. On the second of December 1972, the American National Security Body submitted a survey report of the Arab and Soviet potential attitudes if the USA harassed Libya. In addition, on 19 December 1972, the American president commissioned the C.I.A. to conduct espionage on the Colonel al-Qaddafi and his companions. On the 3^rd of January 1973, the Israeli Military Intelligence Director arrived in Washington and held talks with a C.I.A official about how Mossad and the C.I.A. can cooperate in performing the planned espionage on Libya. On 19 January 1973, the C.I.A submitted the first report to the American president about the activities of Colonel Muammar al-Qaddafi. The second report was submitted thereto on 30 Jan. of the same year. And the third report was submitted on 12 Feb. 1973 containing information about how to harass Libya militarily. On 26 Feb. 1973, a joint American-Israeli report was prepared and submitted in which the military targets and buildings in Libya were specified.

Thus, all these reports were collected before the American National Security Body and the Pentagon, where they were scrutinized on the 4^th of March 1973. Accordingly, the American planes began to approach the Libyan Surt Bay on March 15, 1973 and began to violate the Libyan airspace attempting to incite the Libyan aircrafts and artillery to battle with them. Having increased their violations, the Libyan planes responded on 21^st March by launching missiles against a Heracles American aircraft, but it was not shot.

The U.S.A. tried to collect the support of some European and Arab counties to launch a strike against Libya, but this conspiracy failed after the success of the Libyan diplomacy in truly representing the transgressions and violations of the USA against the Libyan airspace. Because of this failure, it was so difficult for America to launch a military strike against Libya especially after the American State Department report mentioned the unsuitability of striking in that time. In the same year, Libya had weapons bargain with the USA, which resulted in more tense relations with America. And tensions remained till year 1979, in which Camp David treaties were signed between Egypt and Israel under the auspices of the U.S.A, whose conclusion lead the American-Libyan relations to an impasse. The USA thought attracting the biggest country in the Arab strategic heart and adjoining it in the American interests can mean that it may also possible to attract the other parties of this big strategic heart in which the wealth “oil” and the America-strategic interests are focused to confront the second “other” superpower (Soviet Union). But, this alleged possibility was not true with Libya.

Therefore, the US began waiting for an opportunity to direct a stroke against Libya and its leadership. In no time, it prepared its plans therefore. Under Ronald Regan who was elected president of the USA in 1981, the American-Libyan history abounded actually with conflicts. Again and unfortunately, the Libyan agents were also ready at this period, who – through long trainings at the hands of the C.I.A as we have shown in detail in the series of ‘Making an Opposition'- did not find it wrong to use all methods- to achieve their aims- or to stop following their method of deceiving and turning facts upside down till they have deceived their assistants in the American administration itself, like when they passed fraud and alleged information of a Libyan trial to assassinate the American ambassador in Egypt, and its trial to assassinate the American ambassador in Rome.

In addition, they passed in correct information on a Libyan team, to assassinate the American president Ronald Regan, which involved the administration into striking Libya in 1988, afterwards it turned out to be untrue. In addition, some groups resorted to other countries. Other than the USA, like Iraq, Saudia, Jordan, Morocco, Algeria, France and Britain amidst political claims and orientations such as affiliation to HizbollBa'th, Muslim brotherhood and the other Islamic movements. There some supported by foreign countries, formed political organizations putting on liberalism as an appearance, and their members are not more than three, nevertheless.

Recognizing their declared aim, toppling the regime, difficult to attain, thus groups were set ablaze seeking achieving their personal or subjective interests, possibly verified via searching in their documents, data and publications produced by these groups, which are about to have no specific and determined political aims. They hide behind vague ideological mottos, built on general loose indications they deceive thereby the naïve Libyans such as the expatriate students-- businesspersons, the literate, idles, etc. and recruit them.

Thirdly; to affirm that this act of pressing and thronging of the so-called Libyan opposition and its figures behind the foreign intelligence authorities was no more than a blind movement in way of no recourse. When– in the history of international relations-- has a certain country backed and supported an opposition faction of another country for the sake and interest of such faction no for its own ones? In other words, how could the adherents of what is called 'Libyan Opposition’ and its figures imagine that the powers and the foreign intelligence bodies wish to help them attain their aims acceding to the throne and toppling the existing regime, not for achieving the private interests of such bodies in Libya? How could those adherents and such figures imagine that these foreign powers and intelligence bodies prioritize the interests of the Libyan opposition over their own interests? Moreover, this is what days have shown us? These bodies and intelligence organs don't care much about the hopes and aspirations of their agents when these agent attain their goals; instead, they rewarded them negatively while they were overwhelmed with ominous triumph, they think, they have achieved. Ahmad Chalabi, leader of Iraqi Conference Council, and his faction in a historical moment said that the American colonialism of Iraq should pave them the road for authority. But now and only now he began to recognize that he was not working with the U.S.A but 'for' it , as Iraq was not absolved form the Sadam Hussein regime- related enslavement and oppression nor that under the American new usurper; and Chalabi has neither achieved his promethean ambition for authority,  nor has he attained the hoped American satisfaction after he was revealed to provide it with untrue and incorrect information that involved it in the Iraqi mesh from which it does not know a way out to keep its position and appearance before the American public opinion. Therefore, infuriated with the goings on  in Iraq, the USA moved to sacrifice its primary agent politically through declaring the severing of financial support given to him and his party so sometimes, and some other times accusing him of agency to Iran to which he –they allege- passed important information. They also accused him and his assistants of stealing governmental and personal vehicles, moneys, lands, real estates in an illegal way, besides involvement in kidnapping and murdering physicians and scholars. Also they punished him through 'breaking into his house, stealing the document' and paper it contained and moving them to an unknown place. Then, what has Chalabi gained from his agency for the Americans?! What has the poor Iraqi people gain as well? And what have the Americans gained from their involvement in the Iraqi mesh through conveying them the untrue and misleading information delivered by Chalabi.

This is the lesson those tricked and naïve gays loyal to what is called "Libyan opposition" could not pay attention to. They blindly moved and still in the procession of the foreign powers and their intelligence bodies, deprived of ability to discern. They had a pseudo hope that the way they took was the right way to uproot the existing regime to substitute it. It is again adherents and figures of the so called Libyan opposition factions and those who sympathize with them of those who don't like to believe that they were made especially to be a tool for attacking Libya's land, people and leadership, including those who doubted the information  adduced in "Making of Opposition" . it is the lesson that urged us to reprint this book for the third impression after revision, hoping that those Libyans ignorant of the astounding conspiracies was and still is plotted against this country and hoping that history may find room to sy his words, words of sincerity and justice.
